Meet Oppenheimer

One of the world's popular scientist is getting his Hollywood movie this time. It is directed by Hollywood's legendary scifi director Christopher Nolan. I believe most of readers might be a fan of movies like TeneT , Dark Knight trilogy, interstellar, inception the list goes on.

On 6 and 9 August 1945   America Dropped two nuclear bombs on Japan which ended the World War 2 in a destructive. Introducing the world weapons of mass destruction. These events caused a nuclear arms race all around the globe during the cold war. Tensions between US and USSR rose to extreme level considering who has more nukes and where are they placed.

The Cuban Missile Crisis can be seen as an example. How the world came close to breaking into an all out nuclear war between US and USSR. 

The master mind behind the creation of such weapon is the hero of our blog  J. Robert Oppenheimer.

This manly truly bore the responsibility for the creation of the atmic bomb of all the people contributed to the Manhatton project. The Manhatton project was a research and development project undertaken during the World War 2 that produced the first nuclear weapon. After witnessing the first testing of the nuclear weapon the scientist mind recalled a scripture from the Hindu Bhagavad-Gita where Lord Krishna says 

"Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds"

Since then, this unbelievably powerful invention has haunted his entire life. Most of  the people argued that he regretted inventing such a weapon. It very fascinating that nobody made a movie based on such an interesting and inspiring person until now. Christopher Nolan will tell Oppenheimer's story on big screen. This movie promises to be one of 2023's best blockbuster. This movie will be drawing inspiration from a Pulitzer Prize winning book  American Prometheus. Which talks about the triumph and tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer written by Kai Bird and Martin.

 Oppenheimer was haunted by Hiroshima and Nagasaki and came to believe that the Japanese were already essentially defeated. The physicist tried to push the nuclear weapons into the international control. Oppenheimer has one of the most stacked cast of any movie ever. In the lead roles there are Cllion Murphy as Oppenheimer who has long been with Christopher Nolan and Emily Blunt Murphy's quiet place part 2 partner as Kitty Oppenheimer. We also have Black Widow star Florence Pugh as Communist Party member Jean Tatlock who is in an affair with Oppenheimer. Matt Damon as the director of the Manhatton Project Leslie Groves. The iron man star Robert Downey Jr. will play Lewis Strauss a key in developing nuclear weaponry.

We also have Oscar winners like Rami Malek, Gary Oldman and many more. Clearly this movie is stacked with raw acting talent. Christopher is always pushing the boundaries further and further. We can also see this in Oppenheimer as well. It is his most ambitious movie till date. Nolan chose Ludwig Goransson to replace Zimmer after he opted to work on Dune instead.

Shooting on the actual sites where Oppenheimer and Manhattan Project developed the atomic bomb in the 1940s. filming in Los Alamos locations such as the historic Fuller Lodge, Oppenheimer's home, women's dorm and the united church. The cast then moved to film at Princeton's institute for advanced study for small period in 2022 April. They also filmed some scenes at the University of California. The shooting wrapped by may 2022. With the usual problems of period films and director's added vision of recreating the effects of atomic bomb practically the this one of the most ambitious film to come out this year.

Nolan's latest vision at utilzing IMAX's first attempt at black and white photography. Nolan said that 

We challenged the people at Kodak an FotoKem to make this work for us.For the first time ever we were able to shoot IMAX film in black-and-white and the result were thrilling

The theoretical physicist was a chain smoker who died due to complications regarding throat cancer. also including Jean Tatlock, a former girlfriend and mistress of Oppenheimer's only make things more complicated. Which makes this film a masterpiece representing a genius's personal life. This story with immense scope and scale. It is very challenging but we have Nolan he will pull it off.

The Manhatton Project was a top secret project in the United states during the World War II. Which led to the invention of the atomic bomb along with the support from the Uninted Kingdom and Canada. The Project ran from 1942 to 1946.  Officially name "The development of Subsstitute Material" the project's first headquaters in Manhattan gave it it's famous nick name, which eventually bacame the official one. Oppenheimer held the title of director of the laboratory from 1943 to 1945. In 1954 Oppenheimer was stripped of his clearence due to apparent ties to the Communist Party. 

There is no doubt that Christopher Nolan has an exceptional filmography. From Strong inde projects and short films to big-budget blockbusters and superhero movies there is a way Nolan is one of the most sought-after directors in the film industry. Seeing success after success financially and critically. Though Oppenheimer is set during the World War 2 there is no fight sequence like Batman Begins and Tenet. This film is driven by the impactful characters they portray and the world they live in. We hope this films becomes a massive success among the audience.
